When we first meet a new client we ask a bunch of questions to get to know them and their families and what they like and don’t like about their house. Our goal is not to fill your house with stuff but rather help you create a unique living space that is comfortable, functional and beautiful. With the current stay at home orders many of us are looking at our homes very differently. Wishing we had rooms with more flexibility, different furniture and many of us are looking at our own backyards for the first time and realizing how important that living space can be to our family.

So back to that first question, pool table or formal dining table? Both take up basically the same space. Which would you use more if you had it? Even if you have a formal dining table do you have a protective cover for it so that it can be used for home schooling or crafting? Guess what? You can actually have both.

Many pool tables have an option for a dining table cover. I don’t love this option because the table surface is taller than standard height so it can be a little awkward. Chair seat height becomes really important. Holiday and big group entertaining calls for creativity. We encourage our clients to furnish their homes for the way they use it 95% of the time, not the 5% when they want to serve a holiday dinner or sleep an extra ten people.

Don’t fret. We won’t leave you stranded. We will help you create a game plan for successfully accommodating those special times. So take a look around your house and think about the things you wish you could be doing and what you could change to make that happen.
