Our Interior Designers

Heather Place, Owner & Interior Designer

I have owned Plaza Interiors with my husband Bob since 2005. I attended the University of Oregon and have a degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations and Advertising along with a minor in Art History. I use my education every day but much of my knowledge about design and home furnishings has been learned along the way. This last October I was able to tour my first upholstery manufacturer, Hancock and Moore. What an amazing experience and what an amazing product!

I love working with people, learning and being an active part of my community. My goal is to help each client find the perfect furniture or accessory for their home. Tracy and I work together to meet the needs of our clients. We love what we do and have amazing resources to provide our clients. I would love to meet you, introduce you to our showroom and answer any questions you have to help you with your home.

Tracy Whitmire, Interior Designer

I turned my love for art and design into a career when I graduated from the Chico State Interior Design Program with a BA in Art & Interior Design. From there I have partnered with Plaza Interiors to work with clients to create their perfect home environment. I use artist rendering to show space layouts that can be related to by the client and the contractor. Perspectives are always a great way to make sure the client gets exactly what they want.

My skills include, space planning, color consultations, furniture and lighting selection. I am certified in AutoCAD and use this skill along with other programs to help aid the progression of the design. This along with great communication, helps the client feel confident with our selections and visualize the completed project. No matter what stage the project I am able to help, from designing the initial layout to accessorizing a completed room. I love what I do! Let me help your dream of a beautiful, functional home become reality.

Annette Beermann, Interior Designer

My name is Annette Beermann , I learned the art of hand sewing at a very young age while helping my mother sew on thousands of twinkly beads to skating competition costumes. Wasn’t long after that I found my favorite power tool with thread, the “ Sewing Machine”.

In 1982 I studied Interior Design at the University of Reno Nevada which had a strong emphasis on textiles and fabrication, it did not take me long to recognize where my strengths where so traded in that singer home sewing machine in for my first industrial straight stitch, “What new powers I had”.

In 1994 I relocated to Stoneybrook, New York and started Life styles In Fabric, a home based Drapery workroom to the trade which quickly grew into a staff of 7 workroom fabricators. Our work was featured in Architectual Digest, Sunset magazine and Sew What trade publications.

As the year 2000 was approaching the industry was changing rapidly, new fabrics, styles, new techniques and changing workroom compliance. To keep up Lifestyles In Fabric and I became a members of (WCAA) Window Covering Association of America , IWCA International Window Covering Association and attending Cheryl Sticklands Sew What Drapery Educational workshops. Two years later after hours of study and sample making I earned my “Professional Drapery Fabricator” certification and began helping others interested in the trade start their own workrooms.

Relocating here in 2004 I began evolving my Drapery experience with Hunter Dougas Blinds and Shades, and still offer there wonderful products blending them with custom window treatments. Today my business is known as “ Designs In Fabric”, workroom to the trade. Working side by side with Interior Designer in collaboration. Member WCAA, IWCA and recently joined NUA National Upholstery Association, to assure continued educational and insure that all work meets new law compliance and workroom standards.
